This Palette is close to my heart.
On the surface, it’s nine handmade watercolors, all of them granulating. These colors move in ways neither you nor I can predict. They shift, they separate, and they change when water touches the paper and end up completely different when they dry.
That’s exactly what I had in mind when I made them. Because they remind me of life.
Life isn’t one clean line; it moves, shifts, and changes direction when you least expect it.
It carries cracks and layers and all the small moments that don’t make sense until later. Sometimes it feels messy, uncertain, and painful and at times even unbearable and that’s also what gives it depth.
Without those uneven edges, I think nothing would touch us in the same way. The real beauty lives in the parts that remind us we’re humans and in the people who meet us there. The ones who see us, stay close, and hold space when things aren’t easy.
When I made this palette, it struck me again how we’re never the only ones carrying something heavy, even when it feels that way. Maybe that’s what makes it all bearable, knowing deep down, that we are never alone in the rough and tangled parts of life.
The Colors
#372 Compassion
A reminder that kindness changes lives, often in quiet ways we never get to see.
#373 Courage
Not the absence of fear, but the decision to move forward even when fear is present.
#374 Belonging
Not about fitting in, but about being welcomed exactly as you are.
#375 Wisdom
Often born from mistakes and scars, carrying the steady weight of experience and perspective.
#376 Hope
The seed of every tomorrow. It glows like sunlight breaking through clouds, showing that even the smallest spark can grow.
#377 Tender
Love is often found in the softest places; the moments when we dare to stay open.
#378 Freedom
The color of wide horizons and the feeling of deep breaths. It belongs to the moments when you step out of old patterns and into your own truth.
#379 Gratitude
Turns what we have into enough. It shines quietly, reminding us to notice what’s already good and abundant in our lives.
#380 Unity
Not the absence of color, but the meeting of them all. A reminder that even in darkness, we still belong to one another.
So you see... this palette is about connection. About how we carry one another, spread goodness, and create meaning in small ways that often go unseen.
I hope you’ll feel the same joy in using it that I felt while creating it, thinking of you and the sense of “us” behind it all.
Much love,
Mette
