Camilla Damsbo Brix has done it again.
And honestly, at this point I’m starting to think she has some kind of unfair talent agreement with the universe.

Her newest book is called:

“Ink & Wash in the Garden”

And it is exactly what it sounds like in the best possible way. A book that makes you want to sit down, shut up, make tea, and paint flowers like your nervous system depends on it. Because it kind of does.

To match the book, Camilla has handpicked six essential Art to Basic watercolors, meaning the exact colors she actually uses the most in the pages. So this isn’t one of those “random pretty palette” situations. This is practical. Real. Tested. Garden-approved.

It’s basically Camilla saying: “Here. Use these. Stop overthinking. Let’s paint.”

The palette includes:

Raven Tint – no. 65
Branch Burnt Umber – no. 32
Honeybee Orange – no. 28
Grasshopper Green – no. 5
Cherry Blossom Rose – no. 63
Butterfly Blue – no. 29

And I love this combination because it’s balanced in that very Camilla way.
You get structure and shadow. You get warmth. You get green that behaves. You get pink that makes petals feel alive. And you get a blue that doesn’t scream “look at me,” but still does the work.

It’s the kind of palette that makes you feel like you know what you’re doing, even if you’re just following along and hoping the ink doesn’t explode.

If you want to paint straight from the book, or you just want a six-color set that makes garden painting feel simple and satisfying, this one is it.
