Violet Drunk Burgundy is the kind of color that immediately makes the painting behave.
You put it down, and suddenly everything around it looks more intentional, because this one has actual weight.

It’s a deep burgundy with a violet undertone, and it doesn’t do that annoying thing some dark reds do, where they either go muddy or scream “lipstick”. This one stays rich. It stays moody. It stays classy. Even when you push it.

In a light wash it opens into the muted violet burgundy that still feels grounded.
In stronger concentration it goes dark and dense, but it keeps the violet alive in the edges, so you get depth without deadness. The wash settles beautifully, and the pigment gives you natural variation without chaos. It basically does the work for you, but you can take the credit.

This is my go to for shadowed florals, velvet looking fabrics, dramatic petals, low light scenes, and any painting where you want the dark areas to feel like color, not just “dark”.

And yes, it looks insanely good next to greens.

Lightfastness: 6/6 (Excellent)
