Shadow - No. 114UC

Shadow is Payne’s Grey with indigo mixed in, and it’s the color I use when I want the painting to stop being polite.
Cool weight, deep value range, and a dark tone that stays readable instead of turning to mud.

It behaves extremely well on paper. It spreads slowly, keeps a clean edge on wet paper, and layers like a dream. Indigo gives the depth first, and then the grey settles in and keeps everything controlled.

Push it and it goes almost black, yet still airy. Add water and it opens into a calm blue grey that brings clarity to colors around it.

This is the shade for roofs, walls, night scenes, and shadows that actually know their job.
