Resilience - No. 69

Resilience is that one kid energy where you fall off your bike, immediately look around to see if anyone saw it… and then you get up like nothing happened while your knee is basically a crime scene.

This is not a “soft charcoal, elegant mood” kind of color. This is the color of grit. Of adulting. Of “I’ll cry later” and “I can fix that.” It’s deep, dark, and stubborn in the best way, like the part of you that keeps going even when your brain is tired and your life feels like 27 open tabs.

On paper it behaves like a proper anchor. It settles in, holds the whole painting together, and gives every bright color something to lean on. Use it for shadows, structure, sharp contrasts, and that delicious dramatic depth that makes the rest of your palette look like it’s been to therapy and has its life together.

And honestly? It mixes beautifully too. It makes reds richer, greens moodier, and blues more cinematic. It’s basically the watercolor version of eyeliner: suddenly everything looks more intentional.

This is the color you use when you want your painting to say:
“I’ve been through stuff. But I still look good.”
