Hematite is a deep metallic gunmetal with that dark, smooth, steel energy. It’s the watercolor equivalent of a leather jacket and a raised eyebrow. It can look like storm clouds, machine parts, old coins, wet asphalt, a raven feather, or the kind of shadow that actually has opinions.
Paint it in a light wash and it turns into smoky graphite. Push it darker and it goes full midnight metal. It’s ridiculous for cityscapes, dramatic skies, industrial textures, armor, shadows, and anything you want to feel expensive without using gold. It also loves being layered. You can glaze it over colors to give them depth and that slightly cinematic “don’t mess with me” mood.
