Dust is a pale, granular grey with a soft, powdery surface, a faint warm undertone and a dash of graphite. It spreads easily, settles into the paper, and immediately starts doing that thing where everything feels calmer. In light washes it becomes airy and almost translucent, like chalk residue or stone that’s been walked on for years. Add more pigment and it builds structure without turning heavy, muddy, or emotional about it.

Dust is excellent for backgrounds, skin tones, mist, worn surfaces, and any area where light should feel intentional rather than unfinished. It doesn’t demand attention. It just makes space make sense.

Anchor is a deep, cool grey leaning toward blue-black, with strong granulation and actual weight. In diluted washes it opens into complex, shifting textures. With less water it turns dense and serious, almost architectural. These are shadows that know where they belong.

This is the color you reach for when black feels too blunt and too confident. Anchor holds the painting together, adds contrast, and gives everything else something solid to lean against.
