Cascade is a greenish blue-grey made from Phthalo Blue and Raw Sienna. It sits right in that useful zone between green, grey, and blue, which makes it work for much more than 'foliage'.
It granulates heavily and separates beautifully on paper. You get darker deposits where pigment settles and lighter open areas where the paper shows through, so even a simple wash looks textured and alive without you having to do anything.
In dilution it becomes a soft atmospheric wash with a greenish undertone, perfect for background layers and underpainting. In higher concentration it deepens into a cooler, shadowy green with strong value range, and the granulation becomes much more visible.
Phthalo Blue brings the strength and clarity, and Raw Sienna softens the mix and adds that mineral, settled look. The result is a muted, natural green that reads clearly without screaming 'green paint'.
Cascade is excellent for landscapes, eucalyptus and olive tones, stems, coastal plants, forest layers, and weathered stone. It’s also a smart color for building structure early in a painting because it creates depth while staying retained.
Lightfastness: 6/6 (Excellent)
