The Moon Collection by Helle Luna of MoonCreative.dk

This palette was created in collaboration with Helle Luna Koed of MoonCreative.dk, IG @helle.luna.koed. Helle Luna created the beautiful moon paintings and wrote the following words about the palette and the inspiration behind it:

The moon is a cycle. It controls the water, the tides, the ebb and flow. It is never the same, always transforming and moving forward. I see the same thing in the flowing and transparent colors of watercolor. Just as the moon is unique, the watercolors from Art to Basic are unique too; no two pans are the same, since they are all handmade by Mette. Watercolor is water, just as the moon affects our tides. The moon is on an endless journey without a final destination, just like watercolor painting, where you never know the final result until the paper is completely dry.

When I first discovered the colors from @arttobasic, I was captivated by the natural shades, the granulating effects, and the unpredictability, just like the moon.

That is why I am deeply happy that Mette said yes to creating this Moon Collection. The set is filled with cool, warm, granulating, and shimmering colors. Just like the moon itself, this set is pure magic. With these colors, you have the opportunity to paint the moon in all its phases and shades.

The colors in the set:

• No. 23: This beautiful indigo is soft and embracing. It can become as deep as the dark moon and pairs beautifully with the rest of the colors in the set. I chose indigo because it represents water and is therefore the moon’s primary color to me.
• No. 9: A soft and warm color that reminds me of summer days and limewashed houses. It gives the moon a warm touch and reminds us that the light is always waiting just around the corner.
• No. 189: This light green color feels like an emerging spring day. Its lush expression matches the nature of the moon and works hand in hand with the indigo, almost like siblings.
• No. 30: There is no moon without glitter appearing unexpectedly from the deep indigo sea. The shimmer emerges from a dusty brown base representing the moon’s craters and dark side. It reminds us that imperfection can shine too.
• No. 44: There is no moon without the powerful yellow that gives us energy and lights up even the darkest night sky. The color stands beautifully on its own but is also wonderful for adding strength to your moon watercolors.
• No. 70: This color reflects the moon’s gray surface. At first glance it appears calm, but if you look closer, it holds both green and blue undertones. It is ideal for creating texture and softness in the moon’s rocky landscape.

Just as women move through cycles, the moon does too. It is a beautiful and magical representation of feminine nature and can support you in getting to know your own inner cycle.
